AKA 'Piccante Calabrese' or hot of Calabria. These chillies are round, hot and traditionally stuffed with tuna and arranged into jars of olive oil. Parsley Comune (Petroselinum crispum Miller) (Bag) – Franchi Sementi
Flat leaf parsley. Smaller leaves and plants than Gigante di Napoli. Flavor may be a bit more intense than Napoli. Start from seed or transplants. 75-80 days from seed, 50 or so from transplants. For transplants, start 3-5 seeds per cell 8 weeks before set out date (several weeks before last frost). Either thin to one plant or leave entire clump to grow. Seeds are slow to germinate (14-21 days) so be patient. Soaking overnight helps speed up gemination. Very cold hardy. Will overwinter in most areas. 12 gram packet. Approximately 500-600 seeds per gram. Approx. 6000 seeds.

Common flat leaf. This is a mid-early variety of parsley. This is a very aromatic plant with thin stalks. The good size leaves have a dark green colour and grow back stronger after cutting. This variety has a good resistance to low temperature.

Sweet Marjoram. Up to 2 feet high. Perennial in warmer areas; treat as an annual in the north. Start seeds inside in early spring. Plant out around last frost date. For those who can grow it as a perennial, divide plant every few years for best flavor. 1 gram packet. Approximately 1000 seeds per gram.

Lettuce Romaine (Lactuca sativa L.) (Bag) – Franchi Sementi
Lettuce Bionda Ortolani. A classic romaine lettuce with a large tight head and dark green crunchy leaves. 65 days. Like all romaines, it does best in spring and fall. Can grow in summer for baby lettuce, and even head lettuce in cooler climates. Start from 5-6 week old transplants or direct seed, 2-3 seeds per foot at a row spacing of 12-16 inches. Water well until seeds germinate, thin to the best plant and keep well watered. 7 gram packet.

L5 - This is a mid-early variety that produces large upright head, consistant and of a blond coloured. Leaves have crunchy ribs. This is the classic Romaine lettuce used for making Caesar salads.

Coriander (Bag) – Franchi Sementi
Coriander. Also known as Chinese Parsley or Cilantro, you can use both the seeds and the leaves for flavoring. This variety is slow to bolt, very cold resistant, and easy to grow. To direct seed, scatter seeds in a well prepared bed (1-2 inches apart if possible) and cover with 1/2 inch soil. Also can grow in pots. They transplant well. Make succession plantings every three-four weeks for a continuous harvest. 5 gram packet. Approx. 400 seeds. Approximately 70-90 seeds per gram.

Brussels Sprouts (Bag) – Franchi Sementi
Cavolo Bruxelles Mezzo Nano (Brussels Sprouts, half long). Open pollinated variety. A tall plant and a good producer of tasty sprouts. Taste improves once frosted. About 110 days. These were featured on the PBS cooking program, Ciao Italia. 6 gram packet, approximately 1,620 seeds. Approximately 270 seeds per gram.

Brussels sprout as we know them were grown as early as the 13th century in Belgium. The first written reference to the, dates to 1587. During the 16th century they enjoyed popularity in Holland and then spread to cooler parts of northern Europe. The bussels sprout is a member of the gemmifera group of cabbages grown for its edible buds. Althought the sprout is related to the cabbage, and even looks like a miniature versionm, they have a sweet, nutty flavour which some people can find bitter. They grow in multiple rows along a thick, central stalk.
